Ans.  Gold, platinum and mineral oil are the valuable resources found in abundance in the ocean.

1. How are tides useful to us ?

Ans. Tides useful to us in the following ways: 

a. High tides help in navigation.

b. Tides are also helpful in generating electricity.

c. They help in fishing.

2  . How are oceans beneficial to us in improving the quality of life ? 

Ans. The ocean facilitated the countries and regions to trade with one another. Goods can be moved in a very large quantity  by ships and the transportation is cheaper than any other mode of transport. The Marine environment provides animal and plants life in abundance for food and trade.

3. Explain the water cycle with the help of a diagram . 

Ans. The water is converted into water vapours by the process of evaporation. This vapours rise up in the atmosphere and condensed into a crystal of ice or droplets of water to form clouds. When the condensed ice crystals or water droplets grow in size and are unable to float, they fall down over the Earth's surface as precipitation. It is because of this never-ending circulation that the process is described as water cycle.

4 Explain the effects of ocean currents . 

Ans. The effects of ocean currents- 

A.Warm currents raise the temperature along the coast, while cold currents drop the temperature along the coast.

B.Winds blowing over warm currents result in a good amount of rainfall.

C. Ocean currents also help in navigation and transport.

5. Suggest four ways to help people affected by devastation due to Tsunami .

Ans. There are four ways to help people affected by devastation due to Tsunami ---

1. Supply them with food and water.

2. Move them to safe place.

3. Bring first aid and medical help as soon as possible.

4. We can collect fund for them. ·  5. We can donate our clothes.
