Ans. This type of advertisements strengthen the democracy of a country .In a democratic setup every individual or manufacturer can advertise his  product which is only  possible by spending huge  money. These  small businesses do not have the money to spend on advertising. They depend on word of mouth .But they they have to complete against highly advertise items that make the people believe that branded and packed goods are better.

2. How does advertising create discrimination in the society ?  

Ans. Advertising is that  it engrains stereotype attitudes. Some advertisements show a family sitting on the table and the woman cooking the food. Another advertisement shows a women picking up vegetables from the vendor's cart while returning from the office .The men are in variably shown buying computers and cars. A man can cook as well as women or  a woman may know more about computers than a man.This type of advertising creates gender discrimination and hence, is against the basic principles of democracy.

3. What does social advertising mean ? Give examples to illustrate the benefit of social advertising.

Ans. Social advertising means applying marketing and advertising principles of promote health and social issues .It aims to change the attitudes and behaviour of the public and bring about positive changes in the society like advertising campaigns for Polio drops ,ORS etc.

Ans. There are main features  of consumerism .

1. Consumer must be aware of his /her rights and should protect his / her rights.

Ans. Advertisements help in creating Awareness. It makes us aware of our responsibility towards the the society. The public awareness programs like importance of mother's milk for the baby, method of making baby food ,need of hygiene, education and respect for traffic rules. Such advertisements make us sincere for the difference the different issues like water conservation, energy conservation ,deforestation ,health awareness etc.
